SERVICE Irene McCormack Catholic College has been engaged in a variety of service activities, including serving along side volunteers with physical and intellectual disabilities at the Emmanuel House. Students learnt about patience, acceptance, and the importance for all members of the community to feel valued. They also shared the unique experience of working along side volunteers of Radio Lollipop, with Irene McCormack students hitting the airwaves, while others helped children with a variety of craft activities, including face painting. Other Civic Service activities included helping staff of Camp Quality prepare for large fund raising events, as well as working with the elderly at Quinns Rock Day Center. All of these service activities strengthening Irene McCormack Catholic College links with the community. The RSPCA is a favorite Civic Service activity amongst all our year groups. Animal lovers amongst our students got to donate their time to help care for a variety of animals at the shelter, including rats. The Community Service program had a variety of one off events throughout the year including the Red Cross Tin Shake and Winter Sleep Out which raised money for St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Our year 10 and 11 girls did a magnificent job collecting for the Cancer Foundation on Daffodil Day in the city center. |
