Community Service Love cannot remain by itself--it has no meaning.  Love has to be put into action and that action is service

SERVICE

Irene McCormack Catholic College has been engaged in a variety of service activities, including serving along side volunteers with physical and intellectual disabilities at the Emmanuel House. Students learnt about patience, acceptance, and the importance for all members of the community to feel valued.

They also shared the unique experience of working along side volunteers of Radio Lollipop, with Irene McCormack students hitting the airwaves, while others helped children with a variety of craft activities, including face painting.

Other Civic Service activities included helping staff of Camp Quality prepare for large fund raising events, as well as working with the elderly at Quinns Rock Day Center. All of these service activities strengthening Irene McCormack Catholic College links with the community.

Yanchep National Park provided an opportunity for students to get their hands dirty while developing an understanding of environmental issues. Students visiting Mofflyn House worked in the garden and crèche gaining an insight into how each Community House in Western Australia is different because they have grown to meet the needs of their local community.

The RSPCA is a favorite Civic Service activity amongst all our year groups. Animal lovers amongst our students got to donate their time to help care for a variety of animals at the shelter, including rats.

The Community Service program had a variety of one off events throughout the year including the Red Cross Tin Shake and Winter Sleep Out which raised money for St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Our year 10 and 11 girls did a magnificent job collecting for the Cancer Foundation on Daffodil Day in the city center.

It is through the students living the Gospel values exemplified by Irene McCormack and having a passion to serve and care for others that our young adults are able to grow in awareness of themselves, each other and those in our community in need.
